200 more Christmas workers hired at Royal Mail Wolverhampton

Two hundred extra staff have been hired at Royal Mail in Wolverhampton as the postal service prepares for the busy festive period.

The temporary jobs at the site, known as North West Midlands Mail Centre, are part of a scheme to bring in 19,000 seasonal workers.

A total of 430 temporary workers will be employed across the West Midlands this winter.

Bosses confirmed to the Express & Star there will be 200 people working to help Royal Mail with increased mail volumes in Wolverhampton mail centre.

Royal Mail's Sue Whalley said: "Christmas is our busiest time of year.

"We plan all year round to help ensure we deliver the best possible service for consumers and businesses in the UK at Christmas.

"We make a substantial commitment in additional resources, including the recruitment of thousands of temporary workers to handle the festive mailbag."
