New images reveal the shape of Birmingham's Chamberlain Square once major redevelopment work is completed.

The dramatic transformation will see new restaurants, bars and shops in the refurbished square, along with trees and attractive public leisure space as part of the wider Paradise project.

The aim is that the new buildings – One and Two Chamberlain Square – will complement the existing civic buildings including the town hall, council house and the museum and art gallery.

The stunning new CGI images have just been released by Argent, the developer behind the Paradise scheme.

Two new pedestrianised streets will also be created – Centenary Way connecting Chamberlain Square to Centenary Square, which will be the same width as New Street – and Congreve Street, which will widen and open up the existing Congreve Passage, offering a new connection across to Summer Row and the Jewellery Quarter.

Argent's Rob Groves said: "For most people the important aspect of Paradise is the ground level. It's what you will see and use on a daily basis, so we've put a lot of time into getting it right.

"These images show the quality and atmosphere we will deliver in Chamberlain Square, a place where you can truly appreciate the historic buildings around you and socialise in one of the best retail offerings in the city."

Construction of One Chamberlain Square is now underway, with work due to be completed in the autumn of 2018. Work on the public areas of the square will be carried out at the same time and the second speculative office building, Two Chamberlain Square designed by Birmingham's Glenn Howells Architects, will be completed in early 2019.

The Paradise redevelopment is the work of the Paradise Circus Limited Partnership – a private-public joint venture with Birmingham City Council. Argent is the development manager.

Argent has a long track record in Birmingham. It developed and managed Brindleyplace which provides more than 1.1 million square feet of office space, 30 restaurants, bars and cafes.
