The 37-year-old woman suffered head and neck injuries after being hit by the rubble.

She was taken to City Hospital but is not thought to be seriously injured.

West Midlands Fire Service spokesman Matthew Smith said: "The incident involved the partial collapse of a kitchen ceiling in the rear ground floor kitchen of a two-storey property.

"The ceiling partially collapsed onto the female.

"We made the scene safe and isolated the electrics in the kitchen."

He added: "It was an ingress of rain water that went through the building and resulted in the partial collapse of the first floor through into the kitchen downstairs."

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Murray McGregor said: "A bit of the ceiling fell down beside the window. The 37-year-old lady was struck and was knocked to the floor.

"She complained of pain to her head and neck."
