Travellers return to Oldbury park just days after police action

Travellers have returned to an Oldbury park just five days after an encampment was removed from the site.

Around a dozen caravans descended on Tividale Park on Friday afternoon.

It comes after West Midlands Police issued a section 61 to remove a traveller encampment from the site last weekend.

One resident, who did not wish to be named, said: "I was shocked that they were back on there again so quickly.

"It is disgusting that we have to put up with this, as it is not only the problems we face when they are here but the mess they leave after."

A Sandwell Council spokesperson said: "We're waiting for a date from the courts and should know more next week.

"We are aware and are going through the legal process to have them moved."

Council data revealed by the Express & Star last week showed that Sandwell has been faced with 46 encampments up until August this year - more than the whole of 2015, when they had only 41.
