Man arrested for drink driving as biker injured in Wolverhampton crash

A 38-year-old man from Wolverhampton has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving after a motorcyclist was taken to hospital following a crash this morning.

The incident took place on Curzon Street in Wolverhampton at around 8.20am today.

The motorcyclist, aged 22 and also from Wolverhampton, was taken to New Cross Hospital with injuries to his arm.

West Midlands Police spokesman Hannah Fitzgerald said: "Police were called to a road traffic collision involving a car and motorcycle on Curzon Street at the junction of Dudley Road in Wolverhampton.

"A 38-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving. He remains in police custody this afternoon.

"A 22-year-old man was taken to hospital with injuries to his arm."

West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman Jamie Arrowsmith said: "We were called to reports of a collision between a car and motorbike.

"The patient remained conscious and had an arm injury. He was given pain relief and was immobilised before being taken to hospital.

"We had two ambulances on the scene."
