Commemorative events will be taking place all over the country tomorrow to mark the special day, which gives the public a chance to thank members of the forces for their work and sacrifice.

Everything ranging from musical performances to marches and speeches will be taking place.

Wolverhampton

More than 200 people will be joining a parade through Wolverhampton city centre, including members of regular, reserve, veteran and cadet forces.

The parade will step off from Wulfruna Street at 2.10pm and make its way to St Peter's Square where an outdoor drumhead service – the traditional form for a religious service attended by troops in the field – will take place.

Mayor of Wolverhampton, Councillor Barry Findlay, said: "Hundreds of people joined us last year to witness the parade and I would like to encourage the people of Wolverhampton to once again turn out in force to show their support."

Wednesfield

An Armed Forces Day fundraiser will be held at Wednesfield Town Football Club, Amos Lane, Wednesfield, between 11am and 5pm.

It is being sponsored by the Wolverhampton branch of the Staffordshire Regiment Association and the football club. Attractions include a bouncy castle, stalls, tombolas, face painting, military vehicles, military demonstrations, music and dance, air soft rifle range and paintball.

Sandwell

In Sandwell, members of the public have been invited to show their support for the men and women of Britain's armed forces at an event in Oldbury.

Held in the town centre, it will include children's activities and entertainment. A military parade will start at the Low Town car park at 11.30am and finish outside Sandwell Council House.

The crowds and military service personnel will be addressed by the deputy mayor of Sandwell, Councillor Susan Downing, at 11.45am. After the speech, people will be able to enjoy a family fun day in the Civic Square with various stalls and attractions. Councillor Downing said: "This is an opportunity for people to come along and support the armed forces and we hope that there will be a good turnout."

During the official ceremony, Sandwell Council will re-sign the Armed Forces Covenant which confirms that the council is working with the armed forces to help and support current and former armed forces personnel and their families in the local area.

Cosford

The Royal Air Force Museum Cosford will once again celebrate the day by hosting an orchestra concert and a Hurricane flypast.

The Glebe Symphonic Winds Orchestra will be performing for veterans, serving personnel and visitors alike, in an hour-long concert.

The intimate musical performance will feature classical pieces from Edward Elgar and Gustav Holst, mixed up with more modern music from Elton John and David Bowie. The concert will take place in the museum's national Cold War exhibition auditorium which seats 200 guests. As places are limited, the Glebe Symphonic Winds will be performing twice, at 1pm and again at 2.15pm, allowing up to 400 visitors to enjoy the music.

The concert is free of charge. Anyone interested in attending is asked to pre-register now via the museum's website in order to guarantee their place.

Staffordshire

The National Memorial Arboretum in Alrewas, Staffordshire, will host activities from 9am to 5pm.

These will include the annual service of thanks, as well as adventure activities for the whole family including climbing and baby bouldering walls, a spider mountain, archery, segways, a zip line and a mobile cave experience.

Dudley

The Army Reserve Dudley B Squadron will also pay a visit to the arboretum to pay their respects. Captain Jonathan Astley said: "We will be taking a large contingent to the National Memorial Arboretum at Alrewas where we will lay up an old Guidon from the Queen's Own Mercian Yeomanry, which was a former regiment we were part of prior to reorganisation.

"We hope that along with serving soldiers, there will be a large number of old comrades in attendance too."

Cannock

Cannock's Royal British Legion will be celebrating Armed Forces Day in the town centre. They will be joined at Market Place by the Royal British Legion riders branch, Cannock Chase Radio, members of Four Mercian and more. The day will start off at 9am with a small service and wreath laying ceremony at the cenotaph.
