Man cut free from car in Wolverhampton four-vehicle crash

Dramatic scenes greeted drivers travelling in Wolverhampton this morning as a four-car collision left one vehicle on its side.

The crash took place at around 7.20am today along Vicarage Road in Penn as one car collided with three stationary vehicles.

One man had to be cut out of his car by firefighters and was taken to New Cross Hospital for treatment. There were no other drivers or passengers in the three stationary vehicles.

The severity of the man's injuries have not been revealed by West Midlands Ambulance Service, who sent one ambulance and a paramedic area support officer to the site of the collision.

West Midlands Police confirmed they were called by the ambulance service at 7.25am, sending two police cars and five officers to the scene.

The police closed the road and were still present at the site at 9.35am.
