Officers were alerted to the 49-year-old from Pendeford who was befriended by the sex worker and her associates.

They found a woman sleeping on the sofa in his flat. Officers told her to leave and have since turned his damaged flat, which was left in a mess with rubbish strewn around the home, back to normal.

Sergeant Gavin Plumridge, from the local neighbourhood team, said the 'unwanted house guests' took advantage of his vulnerability.

Officers then dedicated time to helping him tidy up the mess left behind.

Sgt Plumridge said: "Officers have helped the tenant get rid of the unwanted house guests, who were taking advantage of his vulnerability and disability and have also helped him tidy up his flat.

"Prior to this the man had looked after his property and was described as a perfect tenant.

"We are working with the local housing association to arrange future support for the man.

"Local officers are determined to challenge anyone targeting vulnerable people for personal gain."
