Now both sites will be incorporated within the existing car parks to provide additional revenue income to the council ahead of the regeneration of the area.

Wolverhampton's city economy boss, Councillor John Reynolds, said: "Good progress is being made in the Southside area of the city.

"The demolition of these buildings sets up a key regeneration opportunity for Wolverhampton.

"The interest generated in Westside from a large number of the UK's leading developers and investors shows the appetite to invest in the city. More than £992 million of city centre investment is either on site or in the pipeline."

The council has also bought land and property at 1-5 Bell Street to strengthen its landownership in the area with demolition of those properties also in the pipeline.
