The Coombs Wood Surgery, in Coombs Road, was taken over two years ago by Stourside Medical Practice and they also oversee Halesowen Health Centre and Tenlands Road Surgery.

Patients arrived for scheduled appointments on Tuesday morning to be met with a letter stating the surgery was closed and had been repossessed.

Stourside Medical Practice released a statement saying patients had still been able to keep their appointments and visit its remaining two sites, and future appointments had been allocated. It added: "We were surprised to find a note on the surgery door this morning giving no notice of this closure.

"I would like to thank all of our patients for the way that they have responded today.

"At Stourside we are proud of the high quality medical services we are able to provide from our GP practices.

"Today we have facilitated all appointments from our remaining two sites and have made sure that future appointments have also been re-allocated.

"We will continue to do this until the issues are resolved.

"I would encourage any patients with concerns to contact the practice where we have ensured extra resource is available to take any calls."

Dudley Clinical Commissioning Group said it was working with the practice to find out what had happened.

Dan King, director of membership and primary care for Dudley CCG, said: "Dudley CCG received notification that the practice could not operate from the Coombs Wood Surgery site in Halesowen.

"All patients are being seen from one of the practices other sites in Halesowen.

"We are working with the practice to understand what has happened and why they were not made aware of this issue with the landlord in advance of the closure.

"We are disappointed that the patient experience has been affected in this way, as are the practice, but we are assured that they are working hard to maintain patient services from their other sites.

"For those patients who are worried, they can contact the practice."

People can get in touch with the existing practise if they need further information.
