Jordan Henry rang Sade Walker 259 times in six days forcing her to change her number three times in an effort to escape the harassment, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Miss Walker also received text messages from the 19-year-old – as did his mother, whom he referred to as 'scum', disclosed Mr Kevin Jones, prosecuting. On another occasion the defendant threatened to 'glass' Miss Walker after the pair met by chance at a nightclub, the court heard.

Henry launched the barrage of phone calls to Miss Walker on February 13 while his magistrates court trial had been adjourned, continued the lawyer.

At the end of the trial he was convicted of assaulting her three times and was given a 24-week term of detention on April 28. He was further banned from having any contact with Miss Walker for three years.

She had told detectives: "I am at my wits end. I feel a prisoner in my own home."

Simon Hanns, defending Henry, who is not due to be released from his current period of detention until July, said: "His mother is now openly supportive of her son and wants their relationship to resume as soon as he is released.

"Sade wishes to resume their relationship and have the restraining order lifted, although that may be difficult to achieve."

Henry, of no fixed address, admitted sending a threatening communication and putting a person in fear of violence.

He was ordered to be detained at a Young Offenders Institution.
