The Jaguar and HGV collided on the Birmingham New Road just after 10.30pm on Friday night.

Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff the 52-year-old passenger of the Jaguar was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver was treated in hospital for head injuries and remains in a stable condition. The driver of the HGV was uninjured.

Pc Chris Ridge, from the Collision Investigation Unit, said: "We have spoken to a number of witnesses at the scene of the collision but I would urge anyone who saw what happened to contact us on 101. We need to establish how a man has lost his life and another is in hospital.

"The family of the men, who live in Slough, have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

"Our thoughts remain with them at this sad time."

The road remained closed for several hours while emergency services cleared the scene.
