Ainesh Sevellaraja is taking A levels, but loves nothing more than to relax by taking on cube challenges.

The 17-year-old has just competed in the World Cube Association North London Open Competition.

He was one of 80 competitors taking part in different events with Rubik's Cubes and other Rubik puzzles.

Ainesh, who came to Acton Burnell's Concord College from Malaysia in January, broke the Malaysian record for solving a puzzle whilst blindfolded.

In one of the categories he had 30 seconds to memorise a cube and solve a puzzle whilst wearing a blindfold.

In the North London Open Competition, his 13th in four years, he broke a total of five Malaysian records and has now established himself as one of that country's top 10 cubers in different events.

Rubik puzzles have been an interest since he was 11 and he goes online looking for solutions to puzzles.

At Concord College, where he is the only student with such an interest, he is studying A-level double maths, physics and chemistry and hopes to study computer science at Oxford or Cambridge.
