The West Bromwich playmaker was raising funds for the former Celtic and Villa star's charity and will now play at the world famous Augusta National course.

Sky Sports presenter and event host Jim White couldn't contain himself at the footballer's generous donation, which will now see him play at the home of the US Masters in Georgia.

He tweeted: "@WBAFCofficial's James Morrison at Petrov Foundation dinner - he shelled out £60k to play Augusta & still smiling!".

Established in 2013, the foundation's purpose is to revolutionise the way leukaemia and cancer are treated by developing more practical and effective processes for treatment, re-lapses and prevention of illness.

Stiliyan Petrov had an illustrious career, firmly establishing himself as a player at Celtic and later captaining Aston Villa, while receiving 106 caps for the Bulgarian national team.

In 2012 he was diagnosed with acute leukaemia and forced to quit football.

However, he recently won his battle against the illness and has even put himself forward to get back playing for Villa in their first Championship campaign next season.

The SPF annual charity golf day took place on Sunday, May 8 at The Belfry.
