Watch the moment a Halfords mechanic was caught swearing at a driver as he took a woman's car for a test

A garage  customer was left shocked when she discovered footage showing a mechanic swearing as he tested her vehicle.

The worker was caught swearing and verbally abusing other road users on a dashboard camera of Farina Best's car.

Mrs Best said she was 'disgusted' by the footage.

The 30-year-old of Grosvenor Close, Bushbury, had taken her car, an Audi Q7 vehicle, to Halfords Auto Centre, in Foxes Lane, Wolverhampton on March 30 to be serviced.

The mother, who has three sons, Aiden aged 10, Kai, eight and Zach, five, was 'disgusted' to also discover footage of the garage worker from her dashboard camera, which showed him swearing and verbally abusing other road users.

She also claims brake fluid and oil was left dripping from her car following work at the garage.

"I could have been killed, so could have my children or we could have hurt someone else travelling in that car, it's not a small car," Mrs Best said.

"I asked my dad, Pete, to come and look at the car because I was worried and he said I should take a look at what the camera had recorded. I just couldn't believe it, I was disgusted. I couldn't believe that this man had the audacity to be driving around in my car, muttering and swearing.

"Not only that, to leave the car in such a state of disrepair, when frankly, it is dangerous for me and my children to be inside is totally irresponsible."

Now Mrs Best and her husband Nick Best, aged 28, who works as a plumber, is demanding that the garage worker undergo disciplinary action.

"I want him sacking," Mrs Best said. "It's not about the money, I just dread to think about how many times this has happened before to people who haven't had a dash cam and how many more will go through it if I don't make a stand." Since the incident, Mrs Best and her father have returned to the garage to confront the worker.

"They just shooed us off into the back away from everyone. My dad barely had chance to speak to him. Something needs to be done."

Mrs Best has since received a letter of apology from the firm and a £287 cheque to cover the cost of the service.

"I spoke to the area manager and asked what can be done about the man that serviced the car. He said that an internal investigation took place but that they can't tell me anything further."

Jonathan O'Connor, of Halfords, said: "We carry out services and repairs on around 20,000 vehicles per week. We believe in providing the highest possible levels of service which is why as soon as Mrs Best brought the fault to our attention we immediately fixed it and refunded her costs.

"It is standard practice for a mechanic to take the vehicle out on a road test before and after a service to test for faults which is why this was recorded on Mrs Best's dash cam. The mechanic was recorded muttering under his breath which isn't standard practice and we apologise for that."
