The plans to overhaul the old Ibstock Brick site in Tansey Green Road have been unveiled and Ward councillors have hailed the move to bring the derelict site back to life.

A statement submitted as part of the planning package says the scheme 'is a sustainable and high quality residential development that successfully integrates into the existing surrounding area'.

Developers London and Cambridge Properties Ltd and Ibstock Brick Ltd hope to overhaul the land.

Brockmoor and Pensnett ward Councillor Karen Jordan said she would be pleased with any new homes coming to the area.

"I welcome any new houses on that land because people need and want somewhere to live.

"But we need to make sure there are enough different types of houses - we need a mixture.

"I also want to know where the young children moving to the new homes are going to go to school.

"Is there going to be enough room for those children? We need to make sure there are enough school places available.

"I welcome the use of that land for housing but just hope there are enough facilities for the children."

Dudley Council planners will rule on the outline application at a later date.

The design and access statement says 'the proposals would result in the delivery of a high quality and attractive scheme which relates well to its surroundings'.

It continues: ""The proposal comprises up to 250 dwellings with means of

access, including the provision of allotments.

"All matters, apart from means of access, are reserved for later determination."

The 7.4-hectare site is at the centre of Stalling's Lane, Tansey Green Road, Dreadnought Road and the A4101.

The site is currently unoccupied and is 'under a mixture of modern hardstanding and rough cover' according to the developers.

It is bordered by a mix of industrial land and residential streets.,

The planning report states: "The site is surrounded by the industrial buildings of the Pensnett Estate and a variety of age and styles of residential properties.

"This includes the newly built Taylor Wimpey dwelling which are currently being constructed opposite the site. "
