He has now urged parents to be vigilant as catching the meningococcal infection early prevented Daisy-Hope developing full meningitis.

Mr Mole told the Express & Star: "Daisy was diagnosed very early as she had a rash under her eye and was rushed to the emergency child assessment unit, showing symptoms of meningitis.

"By catching it so early on doctors prevented it leading to full bacterial meningitis. She's recovering well and hopefully in the next couple of days will be given the all clear.

"I'd like to thank all of the support Walsall fans, players, staff have given us and I would like to say thank you to staff at the hospital for being so efficient and quick in catching the symptoms.

"It just made me realise as a parent, if you do spot any abnormalities with your children, you shouldn't hesitate to contact the NHS. We're lucky my wife Emma was on top of things, I dread to think what could have happened if it was left 24 hours later."

Walsall director Mr Mole posted on Twitter photographs of his daughter at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield where she is being treated. He wrote that she was having to miss her first Walsall home game since she was born.

He tweeted on Saturday: "For those of you searching for a hero, I found mine & was right in front of me all along. So brave. What. A. Girl" and later tweeted: "Never intended on putting anything on here, glad I did. Nice messages from some nice people. Thanks for caring #UTS."

Messages came in thick and fast in support for the Mole family.

Mr Mole went on to tweet yesterday that five days after first being diagnosed, Daisy-Hope was doing 'so much better'.

Saddlers fan Mole was appointed to the board of directors in May 2015 after working his way up since he joined the club's media department in 2002.
