Twelve-year-old Conner Prosser, first caught the go-karting bug at the tender age of five during a family holiday to Turkey in 2012.

Since then, Conner, of Hill Street, Bilston, has competed against hundreds of other hopefuls to achieve the the fastest lap time in the country in 2015, taking part in a time trial in London for Team Sports. The fastest lap he completed at a competition in London was 36.2 on a 40 second track. The fastest he has ever done was at the Team Sports track in Oldbury where he achieved a 44.9 lap on a 60 second track.

Now, the youngster, who takes part in two races a month, has set his sights even higher, joining the prestigious company Formula Kart Stars.

Lewis Hamilton and Bernie Eccleston started their career with the club and now sponsor its work. But Conner needs to raise £25,000 in sponsorship before April in order to join.

His family are appealing to local businesses to help out, as Conner's father, Trevor Prosser, lost his job in the MG Rover redundancies of 2005 and have been struggling to make ends meet.

"It's a massive commitment for us all," said Conner's mother Lisa Daniels, "We're just normal working people without access to that sort of money."

"We just need to get the word out there for local businesses to support and sponsor Conner at this early stage of his career.

"Conner has been dedicated to the sport for such a young age, we know he is going to carry on and do incredibly well."

Conner, who attends Dormston School, Dudley, is amazed that he has been selected to join Formula Kart Stars and is looking forward to the work ahead.

"He is just raring to go," said Ms Daniels, "We know he has the talent and skills to go far, we just need to find the funding for him to do it," she added.
