Man dies and another arrested after altercation outside pub

A man has died and another has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter after an altercation outside a pub.

The 61-year-old was confirmed dead at the scene outside the Queens Head pub in West Bromwich at around 11pm last night.

A 46-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and is currently in police custody.

A post mortem will take place today to determine the cause of death, and the scene in Church Lane has been cordoned off while investigations take place.

West Midlands Police Detective Inspector Jim Munro said: "We are currently investigating what has caused the death of this man and await the results of the post mortem.

"We believe there may have been an altercation with another man beforehand and would ask for any witnesses to call me as soon as possible."
