Police are investigating the assault took place at 9.30pm on Friday night, as the 24-year-old dad walked along Glover Road, on the Falcon Lodge Estate in Sutton Coldfield.

The man, who had his 18-month-old daughter in his arms, was approached by three men who started punching him in what is described as an unprovoked attack.

Detective Sergeant Simon Hanlon from Force CID, said: "We are asking for anyone who saw this attack on a father carrying his child in his arms to contact us. Fortunately the child was not injured and her dad was not left seriously hurt. However, following the assault, it was found the child's coat had been cut or slashed.

"Unfortunately we don't have descriptions of the men, other than they were dressed in dark clothing, as the man didn't get a good look at them while trying to shield his daughter. If anyone saw the incident ion Friday night or has any information about the three men they should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111."
