The window cleaner, from Penkridge, will complete his 200th marathon this Saturday in Telford.

But reaching the half-way milestone has not been easy for Mark who dislocated his shoulder earlier this week. The accident happened as he had set himself the challenge of a triple marathon in a day.

If he completes his 400 marathons in a year, more than one a day, then Mark will become a record breaker as the current record for a year is 239. To put the 400 marathons into context, he will end up running 10,488 miles, roughly the same distance as flying from London to Sydney.

Asked about reaching the halfway point, Mark, who has released a new video showing him preparing for the next stage of his challenge, said: "It will be like a great weight has been lifted from my shoulders – if you'll pardon the pun!

"It's a real morale-booster to know I'll be halfway there." Asked about his injury setback, Mark, aged 32, added: "I tripped over a log on Cannock Chase. It was ruddy painful but my friend Phil, who I was running with, popped it back in so I was able to complete 81 miles in a day."

Mark, who grew up in Shrewsbury after being adopted, described his challenge, which he started in July, 2015, as an 'emotional rollercoaster'.

He added: "I've never had any problems getting myself out of bed at 4am to go running, as I love it!" His next milestone will be his 300th marathon when he runs in the Greater Manchester event on April 10.
