British Quidditch Cup coming to Staffordshire

It started as a fictional sport in the famous Harry Potter book series – but now it is a global competition attracting thousands of players.

Meanwhile,the British Quidditch Cup is making its way to Rugeley.

The UK crown for the game will be contested in Staffordshire on March 19 and March 20.

A total of 32 quidditch teams from across the country will battle it out for the title of UK champions at Rugeley Leisure Centre.

Mel Piper, the president of Quidditch UK, said: "The sport is one of the fastest growing in the UK right now and this tournament will reflect that."

Both teams of seven must be mounted on brooms at all times during play as they try to score through the hoops.
