Bridgnorth Road crash: 24-year-old killed in early hours smash named

A 24-year-old man who died in a crash in the early hours of this morning has been named as Lee Wassell.

Mr Wassell was found in the road near to his blue Subaru Impreza which had crashed with a tree and a lamp post on the A458 Bridgnorth Road at Stourton, near to the turning for Stourbridge Rugby Club.

Despite the efforts of members of the public and paramedics Mr Wassell, of Clee View Road, Wombourne, was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is not yet known what caused the accident, which took place in sub-zero temperatures at around 12.40am on Saturday.

His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained police officers.

The A458 is a popular road that runs north west from Quinton to Bridgnorth, passing through Halesowen, Stourbridge and Stourton.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and have appealed for anyone who witnessed the collision or saw the Impreza to come forward.
