The accident, which is thought to have been caused by the sudden fall in temperatures overnight, has prompted a warning from police about driving conditions this week.

The van rolled over on Bridgnorth Road in Shipley at the junction with Bennetts Lane, landing on its right side on a grass verge. A second large goods vehicle also skidded but remained on its wheels and escaped damage.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene at 6.13am, with one crew being sent along with five firefighters, in one fire engine, from Wolverhampton Fire Station. Neither driver was injured, with the driver of the vehicle that landed on its side getting out before firefighters arrived.

Moments afterwards, a further accident occurred involving another LGV and a vehicle. No one was injured in that incident.

Emergency services closed the Bridgnorth Road at The Fox pub at 7.35am and it was reopened at 8.25am.
