Brintons Carpets announced two months ago it was looking to the cut the workforce at its Stourport Road site.

The firm now says new roles will be offered at the firm's other site in Halesfield in Telford.

Rob Greenfield, group manufacturing and logistics director, said: "Brintons operates in an extremely competitive global marketplace. In order to maintain and strengthen our position as one of the world's leading suppliers of bespoke carpets, it's vital we constantly review our business operations to ensure we remain competitive.

"As a result, we are proposing to restructure production processes at our Kidderminster site to include newer and more modern methods of production, with a greater focus on higher technology processes.

"The Kidderminster plant and our staff play an important role within our worldwide operations and this proposed restructure will enable us to become a more modern and flexible production environment, placing Brintons at the forefront of global carpet production and bringing woven carpet manufacturing into the 21st century.

"As part of this proposed restructure, we are entering into a consultation period with staff to reduce headcount by up to 65 employees at our Kidderminster site.

"We will, where possible, seek opportunities for voluntary redundancy, as well as offering new positions at our Telford plant. The proposed restructure will include consolidation of job roles and new job opportunities.

"This proposed restructure is part of Brintons long term strategy to achieve manufacturing excellence and safeguard the business to ensure we are in a position for continued and sustained growth."
