M6 closed as man threatens to jump from bridge

A man who brought the M6 to a standstill when he threatened to jump from a bridge has been detained for mental health assessment.

The road was closed in both direction between Junctions 13 and 14 for around ten minutes this afternoon after the man on the bridge threatened to self-harm.

It was closed from around 5.30pm-5.40pm.

No-one was injured.

A spokesman for the Central Motorway Police Group said: "An uninjured male was detained for mental health assessment, and the carriageway was closed for about 10 minutes at 5.30pm."
