And more than 400 dedicated fans queued for up to five hours to meet YouTube sensation Daniel Middleton in Oldbury.

Children and adults travelled from across the country to meet the star - who goes under the name Daniel TDM - at Toys 'R' Us on Birchley Island.

Fans queued for up to five hours

The 23-year-old has clocked up billions of views and more than eight million subscribers on his YouTube channel The Diamond Minecart since 2012. He simply posts videos about playing Minecraft and admits he has been amazed by the response.

Tickets went on sale for his visit on November 21, causing chaos when a limited amount sold out within a few hours.

Dan, who has been a self-confessed videogame addict since a young age, said: "I've never been to Oldbury before but it's great to get such a warm welcome from everyone.

"It still feels incredibly surreal to have people shouting your name but it means so much to come here and see them in person."

Dan's appearance was also in recognition of the Tube Heroes Toy collection, a range of action figures created from the YouTube gaming stars of today.

Dan has been immortalised as one of the many Tube Heroes characters that exist to protect the digital universe from anything that may threaten its existence.

One family who were first in the queue to see Dan had arrived at the centre before 8am.

Mother and Father Angie and Keith Hawkes had brought their super-fan children along Katie, aged 8, and Jack, aged 10.

Jack, from Prestatyn, North Wales, said: "I am so excited to see Dan because I watch his videos everyday. I've even brought along some presents to give to him."

Dan's followers are predominantly from six-years-old to early teens.

Toys 'R' Us manager, Niall McMurray, said it was a privilege to have such a star in the store.

"It has been crazy for tickets, we had people queuing from 8pm last Friday night when they went on sale.

"It has been a privilege to have Dan here - he is now a global talent."
