Hero Brandon Carlon, aged 12, was visiting his father Frankie in Lincolnshire during the half-term break when he started experiencing tight pains on his chest.

The pupil at New Park School in Wolverhampton quickly grabbed the phone and called the emergency services, which turned up immediately and said since if it was not for the quick call, he would have died.

Surgeons at Lincoln Hospital performed heart surgery on Mr Carlon and he has now been released from hospital and is on the road to recovery.

Brandon's mother Artielene Holmes, who lives with him in Pennfields, has spoken of how proud she is of her son.

She said: "It happened when he was staying at his dad's for a week so he could have contact with him.

"They had got up had breakfast then they were sat on the sofa when his dad said it felt like somebody was stood on his chest.

"Brandon then took his phone and rung the hospital when in the meantime he was having a full blown heartache.

"But he kept calm and acting really sensible, rung the ambulance and told them the details and then put him in the recovery position."

Brandon visits his father during the school holidays and is heading to Lincolnshire this weekend to see him for the first time since the incident.

Doctor's said Mr Carlon had suffered with a blocked artery but is now out of hospital and doing well.

Mrs Holmes added: "Brandon has had some bad problems in the past and has got ADHD so for him to do something like this is a really a big thing. I think for anyone to do something like that age is remarkable.

"He is quite hyperactive but at that point he must have gone into this mode where I need to do this.

"I am so so proud of him for keeping calm and doing the right and he has been so sensible and grown up about the situation too."
