A man and woman, both from Wolverhampton, were arrested two days after the incident and later appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates Court.

They remanded the 21-year-old man in custody after he was charged with causing grievous bodily harm, engaging in sexual activity with the baby and causing or allowing a child to suffer serious physical harm.

He will appear before Wolverhampton Crown Court on February 12 for a plea and case management hearing against him.

An 18-year-old woman was also charged with the same offences and is currently on bail pending further investigation.

Two other women, aged 46 and 32, were also arrested on suspicion of assault and have been released on police bail.
