Motorcyclist, 25, killed in Burntwood lamppost crash

A 25-year-old motorcyclist has died after he crashed into a lamppost in Burntwood today.

The man was riding a motorbike along Springhill Road at around 8.45am when it is believed he lost control.

The road was closed for more than two hours. No other vehicles were involved.

Chief Inspector Dave Garrett of Staffordshire Police, said: "We were called to Springhill Road at about 8.45am.

"It is looking like a 25 year old male from the Burntwood area who was involved. It looks like he was driving down the road and lost control and hit a lamppost.

"The man's family have been informed and we will be assigning specialist family liaison officers to that family.

"The process of formal identification is yet to take place.

"The road remained closed until about 11.45am and the police would like to thank the public for their patience."
