M6 closed after man threatens to jump from bridge

The M6 around junction 10 was closed in both directions after a man threatened to jump from a bridge.

The incident happened at around 9.30pm last night on the junction between Churchill Road and Bloxwich Lane in Walsall.

The motorway at junction 10 was closed in both directions for about 40 minutes as it reopened around 10.20pm.

At 10.21pm the man was reported to be on the right side of the railings and safe in police custody.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.33pm to the junction of Churchill Road and Bloxwich Lane with reports of a man threatening to jump from a bridge.

"We responded with an ambulance, hazard response and the area support team."
