Shoppers ran for cover as rain water cascaded from the ceiling near tills in Asda, at One Stop Shopping Centre in Perry Barr, Birmingham.

Buckets were laid out inside to capture water as shoppers tried to avoid the flooding on the floor inside.

The incident was captured at around 1pm yesterday by shopper Raj Rattu on his phone.

Customers were evacuated whilst staff cleaned the affected areas and returned the store to normal.

Shoppers were forced outside for a hour while the leak was blocked and water cleaned up.

Asda spokesman Lauren Pell said: "Due to the freak weather conditions there was some flooding in our Perry Barr store yesterday.

"Colleagues worked extremely hard to clear this up and the store reopened an hour later and started trading as normal."
