A total of 420 people took part yesterday at Enville Hall - a new venue for the event which was celebrating its tenth year.

All money raised by the participants in both the 10k and 2k courses is donated to Dudley-based charity Action Heart, with all costs covered by event sponsor BodyKraft.

BBC Midlands Today presenter Nick Owen was on hand to start off the 2k runners before the Wolves legend took over for the main event.

Roy Sanders, President of Kinver Rotary Club, said: "Steve was great with us. He was chatting away to Peter Williams, who is the owner of Enville Hall.

"One of his sons is a Wolves fan and Steve said he would sort out getting something signed for him.

"Really, he is just like your best mate. Anyone who wanted a selfie there was absolutely no problem. He was very approachable."

The run has previously started from Potter's Cross but organisers arranged to switch this year to Enville Hall, a working estate near Stourbridge that is still a family home.

The extra open space allowed the rotary club to bring in a bouncy castle and entertainment for children.

Graham Wildgoose, aged 52, from Wordsley, was among 18 runners taking part from Dudley Kingswinford Running Club.

"As a club we did really well. Our man Ben Foster won the whole race.

"It was the first time I have done the event, and having done a few 10k races and half marathons, I can tell you that is a real tough run.

"There is a huge hill at the very beginning. Basically you are going up and down for the first two miles.

"The event is put on really well and being at Enville Hall gave it a really nice picturesque setting."

Club member Darren Bishop finished fourth overall, while Helen Tromans finished second in the women's rankings, with Rebecca Warren in fifth.
