Andrew Davies was dismissed by West Midlands Ambulance Service following the death of Carl Cope who collapsed of a heart attack on June 23 last year.

Now the Health and Care Professions Council will review the case next week and decide whether to strike him off the register.

The four-day hearing to be held in London will start on Monday and is set to conclude on Thursday.

Mr Davies was one of three people charged with failing to discharge his duties in taking care of the health and safety of 47-year-old Mr Cope.

The criminal cases against him and another person were dropped while Matthew Geary was convicted and handed an eight month suspended prison sentence.

The HCPC confirmed there were a range of sanctions which could be applied in the case including suspending Mr Davies from practising.

But a spokeswoman also said no action may be taken if the panel did not find Mr Davies guilty of misconduct.
