Three shops in Stafford's The Guildhall Shopping Centre have closed.

Topshop, Wallis and Evans all shut their units after parent company Arcadia Group decided not to renew its agreement with centre bosses.

All three stores have been at The Guildhall for more than ten years.

It is thought that Arcadia is keen on relocating the stores to the new £70million Riverside shopping complex.

After the units closed Guildhall bosses moved to quash rumours the centre was shutting down altogether.

George Demetriou, centre manager at The Guildhall, said: "There were some rumours on social media which certainly brought a smile to our face.

"But we are certainly not closing.

"The agreements with Wallis, Evans and Topshop expired and the Arcadia decided not to renew. They have got a unit opening at Riverside.

"It is unfortunate but that is their decision."
