Delays on M6 as two taken to hospital after crash

Two people have been taken to hospital after a crash on the M6 near Wednesbury.

The collision involved a van and a minibus and took place between junctions 8 and 9 on the motorway's northbound carriageway at around 6.30am on Monday.

Three people travelling in the minibus suffered minor injuries. One was discharged at the scene and two were taken to Walsall Manor Hospital with limb injuries.

Nobody travelling in the van was injured.

The minibus had extensive front end damage, while the van had rear offside damage.

Two lanes of the M6 northbound were closed following the incident, causing tailbacks to junction 7 on the M6 and junction 1 on the M5. Delays of around 30 minutes were reported.

Drivers travelling southbound on the M6 are also facing delays of around an hour after a broken down vehicle between junction 11a for the M6 toll and junction 8 for the M5.
