He was detained by officers on the M5, near to Junction 2 at Oldbury, at about 5am today.

The boy claimed he had been locked in the back of a lorry for more than two days, West Midlands Police said.

Officers were trying to work out where he had come from and his immigration status before calling in social services. He remains in custody.

It comes just days after six people, thought to be illegal immigrants, were spotted jumping out of a lorry next to the M6 on August 11.

A member saw them leave a refrigerated lorry in Brockhurst Crescent, Walsall, close to junction 8.
