Brereton Town FC will face up to the all-star Wanderers outfit on Sunday - as the main attraction on a whole day's worth of activities at the ground on the A51 in Rugeley.

Former RAF field caterer Andy Sawyer, whose son plays for Brereton's under-9s - has played a major role in organising the event.

He has also had the help of double amputee sapper Clive Smith, from Cannock, who served in Afghanistan with the 33 Engineer Regiment and lost both of his legs to an explosion.

Mr Donald, aged 47 from Hednesford, said: "It is just a charity very close to my heart.

"These guys are injured for life and what we want to do is make sure the charity keeps having support and money.

"I am ex-RAF and all I want to do is help out where I can. Help for Heroes is such a good charity."

The fundraiser at Brereton Town will start at midday and the match itself will take place between 2-3pm.

On the day there will be market stalls, burger and ice cream vans, a tombola, an inflatable football pitch as well as live music which will play into the evening after the contest.

Entry is free but there is a suggested donation of £3 per person or £5 for families.
