TK Maxx will be the second store launched on the multi million pound Gateway retail park, on the Churchbridge interchange.

The designer label shop will open at 9am tomorrow, having created 40 full and part time jobs.

Eager shoppers are expected to line the car park, and the first customer in the queue will cut the ribbon and be presented with a bouquet of flowers.

Other shoppers can enjoy live music throughout the day and a face painter will also be at the 16,000 square ft store, which will sell a range of clothing, accessories and homeware.

Laura Rolinson, TK Maxx store manager in Stafford has overseen the set up of the two storey Cannock store with a team of 15 and said: "We are very excited. The team here are fantastic.

"Everything has gone to plan since we got the keys on August 7 and we can't wait to open."

Ahead of the 24-hour final countdown she added: "We will also be recruiting for temporary Christmas staff soon and look forward to welcoming shoppers to the store, seven days a week."

Work on the retail park began nine months ago.

Sofa Works was the first to open at the retail park last month and created 15 jobs.

The site is expected to create around 100 jobs in total.

Richard Norgrove, property director at Hortons' Estate, the developers behind the retail site, said: "We are delighted to see the second store ready to open and I wish the team all the best.

"It is a great store for Cannock and we are pleased with the progress of the prominent site."

He added: "Burger King and Costa Coffee will be open next month."

Leader of Cannock Chase Council, councillor George Adamson welcomed the news and said: "This store is a sign of confidence in Cannock, that the town can attract big names. It is the first department store for the town in decades and it is fantastic news.

"The store has created jobs and will attract shoppers and visitors to the town."

The store will be open 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 7pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 5pm on Sunday.
