From the iconic BT Tower to the new £189 million library, Birmingham really comes to life in this new image. In the centre is the futuristic new £35 million flagship John Lewis store which is being built as part of the plush Grand Central shopping complex, with its unusual scaplloped roof. The Radisson Blu hotel stands out as a landmark and the distinctive red Mailbox complex can just be made out as can the BT Tower to the far right of the image.

The Cube, with its skyline restaurant can also be spotted. Photographer Will Pearson was commissioned to take the image ahead of John Lewis' official opening on September 24.

The Clent Hills, near Stourbridge, can be seen on the horizon of the image which is made up of 33 detailed photographs edited together.
