The Midcounties Co-operative Limited has submitted plans to Wolverhampton council for a new 3,000 sq ft shop off Tettenhall Road, Newbridge.

The site was formerly Newbridge Service Station, which closed in 2005.

Plans also include 44-car parking spaces.

A spokesperson for The Midcounties Co-operative, said: "We can confirm we have submitted plans for a store on Tettenhall Road in Wolverhampton and await the result of the application."

After its closure, Esso, which ran the petrol station until, spent years trying to bring it back to life but planning chiefs refused an application to develop the site in May 2008 claiming the proposed development was of poor design and would be detrimental to its neighbours.
