The Annual Classic Car and Transport Show saw more than classic vehicles, some made in the 1920s, on display at Walsall Arboretum on Sunday.

It attracted big crowds of people who inspected the vehicles and spoke to their owners. There were also miniature bus rides and a jumble trade with automobilia, books, models and tools on sale.

Geoff Price, who has worked at the event for many years ore than 40 years, said: "There were about 450 vehicles there on the day.

"We go through to American cars, custom cars, military vehicles and buses – we cover a bit of everything.

"For an event to carry on as long as it has, there isn't anything quite like it. There's nothing to really compare to with the time it's been going on." He added: "You can never know how popular these events are going to be, the audience has changed over the years, but all of a sudden, cars from the 80s have now become classics."

"Cars which I've previously had and not considered classics are now turning up to the shows."

On display were marquees from the 1930s, with a range of brands including Ford, Hillman, MG and Alex Mills' 1937 Buick Century.

The1950s era included the Austin Somerset, Ford Pilot and Austin A35, while 1960s classics included the Triumph Herald, Vauxhall Victor, Ford Anglia and Rover P4.

A vast range of 1960s sports cars saw many models from brands including Sunbeam, Triumph, Daimler, Humber and Jaguar and over 20 American cars were also on show.

Peter Whitehouse, organiser of the classic club show stand, said: "It was a good event and a nice celebration of the 25 years of the show.

"We do six to eight shows a year and this is a massive hobby of mine. It's nice to see there's still a growing number of enthusiasts today."
