Adventure Forest Ltd will now transform the former Chubbs Locks unit in Well Lane into the Air Space centre, which will have more than 100 interconnected trampolines.

The move was today welcomed for Wednesfield and the wider Black Country.

Councillor Keith Inston said: "It's a marvellous idea for Wolverhampton, something like this has never been done in the area before so I'm very happy to see it go ahead.

"Not only is it a different option for Wolverhampton, it's bringing employment and jobs to the area, which can only be a good thing.

"I would love to see more applications like this being approved in the area, it's going to bring a positive impact for workers and people to enjoy something like this in Wolverhampton. "

The new centre will create what bosses call a 'urban playground' and will be the first Air Space centre outside of Scotland.

As well as trampolining, the venue will allow people to play dodgeball, basketball and football on super-sprung pitches.

The plans state: "There are positive benefits associated with the proposal.

"The proposed development promotes economic development resulting in new investment and employment generation in the area.

"It will result in approximately 80 new employment opportunities both within the leisure and logistics components of the proposed use."

The centre will create 40 full-time and 40 part-time jobs, with the potential for more in the future. Staff would have 20 parking spaces, with visitors having 75.

It is believed a 60-minute session at the centre would cost in the region of £13.

Air Space will be run by Adventure Forest Ltd, which also runs Go Ape that has recently set up a base at Cannock Chase.
