The new hearings held in Warrington, which came about after the original verdicts of accidental death were quashed by the High Court, have now surpassed 200 days.

David Birtle, a 22-year-old HGV driver from Cannock was one of the supporters who were killed when part of the Leppings Lane end of the stadium collapsed during the FA Cup Semi Final on 15 April 1989.

In 2012 an independent report was released on behalf of the victim's families which revealed police failings on the day as well as an attempt by the force to deflect blame for the tragedy onto the supporters.
