Firefighters battle blaze at West Bromwich recycling factory

Around 20 firefighters are tackling a blaze at a recycling factory in West Bromwich.

The fire, which started at around 11.30am, involves approximately 20 tonnes of wood chippings.

Crews from West Bromwich, Smethwick and Oldbury are at the factory off Kelvin Way.

Neil Spencer, spokesman for West Midlands Fire Service, said: "It involves approximately 20 tonnes of wood chippings on fire inside a factory unit measuring approximately 100x50 metres.

"Crews are using an on-site digger to dig out the chippings."
