The 32-year-old is seen talking to a woman and dancing next to her in The Vaults, before a man who was with the woman attacks the victim.

Five other men who were with the attacker then join in the assault which lasted around five minutes.

The six men the police would like to speak to can all be seen in the CCTV footage walking into The Vaults on Newhall Hill in the city centre before heading downstairs to the basement bar.

Investigating officer PC Guy Whitfield said: "It's senseless crimes like this which tarnish Birmingham's national reputation as a location for a great night out.

"I'm keen to speak to the men involved so that they can give their version of events."

The crime happened at around 1am on May 4. The club's doormen attempted to break-up the fight and police were immediately called but the six had fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and later discharged.

The men or anyone who can name them should call PC Whitfield on 101. Information can be relayed to officers anonymously via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
