Dawn and Malcolm Bosworth, from Tamworth, were on holiday in Sham El Sheikh in Egypt when they noticed an email from The National Lottery telling them to check their online account for news of a win.

As they were outside the UK, they could not log into their personal account to see what the actual amount was - but when talking to a family member, found out they had won £5,872,705.

Dawn , aged 59, a factory worker at Invotec in Tamworth said: "Malcolm and I were lying on the beach and he said jokingly…we could be millionaires and we don't even know it.

"I can't believe we were sunbathing, swimming, eating and basically enjoying ourselves, dreaming of being millionaires when we were actually sitting on a multi-million pound fortune."

The couple played the Lotto on June 24, but only returned to the UK in the early hours of July 7.

Dawn said: "I put the holiday wash on, emptied my suitcase and as I work shifts from 2pm to10pm, checked my post and emails before I went to work.

"I saw the National Lottery email and couldn't believe it…I thought I'd won £5,000.

"I was jumping up and down and asked my daughter to check it for me. She told me I was mistaken and that it was £5million.

"We all just sat there in disbelief and then I started screaming and shouting.

Things like this just don't happen to people like us."

Dawn and Malcolm have four daughters and 10 grandchildren.

Malcolm, 64, is a loading bay operative at TNT in Atherstone, near Tamworth.

Both have already decided to give up work and the next foreign holiday on the horizon is a cruise to celebrate Dawn's 60th, Malcolm's 65th and their 40th wedding anniversary.

Having started to save up for their trip of a lifetime in 2016, they will be able to choose where, when and how they travel.

As Dawn and Malcolm work shifts they don't have a lot of time for hobbies so they love to spend their limited spare time with their family.

Before spending any money on themselves they want to look after their children and grand children, but they do intend to move house, still staying in the local area.
