Road improvements will be carried out along a section of Pensnett High Street where motorists often face delays.

Cash for the project for the A4101 route, which passes Dudley's Russells Hall Hospital, will be included in budgets to be rubber-stamped by councillors.

Councillors are expected to sign off on the cash in the captial programme of works when Dudley Council's full council meets on July 13.

The Black Country Local Enterprise Partnership have confirmed a commitment in principle to contribute £3.8m towards the scheme.

The remaining £2.5m will be met from future grants from central government paid to the council for transport schemes.

Around £500,000 will be allocated from this pot each year between 2015/16 and 2019/20.

Work is due to start in 2017.
