Wearing their finest suits and dresses, the boys and girls of Cheslyn Hay High School made sure it was a night to remember at Chase Golf Club on Pottle Pool Road.

Parents watched on in excitement with cameras, phones and tablets at the ready as their children arrived in an array of vehicles, including Lamborghini's, cars from the hit movie series Transformers and even an ice cream van.

Gabe Butler, Adam Osbourne, Josh Raju, Jack Squire, Ben Grice and Ryan Atkins, all 16, opted against a fancy limousine, decided to enjoy an ice lolly and arrive to the event as cool as possible.

Josh Raju said: "We just wanted to do something that was funny - something people would remember.

"There's an ice cream van that comes outside our school and sometimes we go off site to have an ice cream and the teachers don't like that so we thought we would do it for them too."

Dan Bates arrived fashionably late in the famous Bumblebee Chevrolet Camaro to the prom, escorted by another Transformers car in the form of police car Barricade.

Leanne Hart, Dan's mother, said: "The Bumblebee driver came all the way from London and it was touch and go as to whether he was going to make it.

"He left at 2pm but it took him five hours to get here because of an accident on the motorway so we had to meet him at the Golf club instead of our house.

"The Barricade driver came from Manchester and came to the house but wasn't licensed to carry Dan as a passenger so he followed us to the club."

When they arrived at the club Dan got into the Bumblebee car, before enjoying the short journey from the top of the drive to the front of the club to pose for photos.

Leanne added: "We were just glad that he managed to get there in the end, he was one of the last that arrived - there wasn't many people behind him - but it all turned out fine."
