'Football rivalry means nothing at times like this,' wrote one fan on Twitter.

The horror of such an evil act of savagery and slaughter has united not just the football world, but the people of Britain and beyond.

All those who knew victims Adrian Evans, his father Charles and nephew Joel Richards talk of popular and much-loved people. Student and referee Joel is described as intelligent, talented and a young man with the world at his feet. But his life has been cruelly snatched away and their devastated families coping with the loss of a grandfather, father, uncle, brother and son.

Tales are emerging now of tremendous acts of bravery in the face of an assassin hell bent on murdering as many people as possible. Among those are that of Joel's young brother Owen who selflessly helped others having watched his relatives gunned down before him.

The heroes who put others first, who saved lives and comforted the victims deserve our admiration. Compare these actions to that disgusting coward who targeted unsuspecting, innocent families at their most defenceless. No tributes will be paid to that evil butcher.

Britain will unite against the evil of terrorism and the world must not be held to ransom by twisted fanatics such as gunman Seifeddine Rezgui.
